“Nobody is a villain in their own story. We’re all the heroes of our own stories.” – George R. R. Martin

Everyone has their own special unique savvys. A savvy is what someone is good at or what makes you, you. A person could be good at making tacos or drawing puppies. That’s their savvy.
In Savvy by Ingrid Law it’s about the Beaumonts. They have savvys like everyone else but their savvys are special. Mibs’s (Mississippi) 13th birthday is in 2 days. That’s when she gets her savvy.
Her 2 older brothers (Rocket and Fish) have already gotten theirs but theirs was a catastrophe. Everyone is holding their breath for Mibs’s special day. But one day during dinner the Beaumonts get a call. Their dad has been injured in a car crash and isn’t waking up.
Mibs gets her birthday savvy. And she thinks it can wake up her dad. During her birthday party she sneaks onto a bus that sells bibles. The preacher’s kids join Mibs, Samson and Fish as they secretly ride the bus to Salina (the town which their dad is in).
But they get caught by the bus driver. He reluctantly lets them go on his bus and drive them to Salina. Lester (the bus driver) stops to pick up a person named Lill who’s car broke down.
They go to a motel and that’s when Will and Bobbi (the preacher’s kids) understand that the Beaumonts have special powers. Later as they go to one of Lester’s stops (a girl he owes money to) she calls the cops on them because he’s “kidnapping” the “missing” kids from the news.
Eventually Mibs and her family are reunited with their father. Mibs uses her powers to awaken people and she awakens her dad.
