“It always seems impossible until it’s done”

-Nelson Mandela

Slacker is a humorous book by Gordan Korman about a kid who loves video games. Cam (Cameron) Boxer is caught up on training for a video game competition and he doesn’t notice his house is full of smoke. He burned ziti and his door got broken by the firemen.

Cam’s parents were not happy about this and told him he had to find some other thing to do in life or they’d take his console away. So Cam and his 2 friends (Pavel and Chuck) make the P.A.G. (Positive Action Group). But it’s fake. Suddenly people become interested in joining for different reasons (saving a beaver, sport wise, academically etc.). Cam is forced to make it a real group that helps people.

The P.A.G. becomes famous when Cam rescues an elderly woman. But they have to shut down the P.A.G. because they “ruin” the jobs they completed. Lawns they mowed become raged and torn. Leaves they raked suddenly appear all over town. And it’s all the Fuzzy Friends fault.

The decide to go into war and fight to win Elvis (the beaver) and get credit for saving him after his friends ditched him when the new mall was built.

But soon everyone’s lives are changed by the demolish of the old highway to make way for the new highway. Parents, Fuzzy Friends and P.A.G. combine to help save their town.
