“The summit is what drives us, but the climb itself is what matters.” —Conrad Anker

Alex Honnold just climbed Taipei 101 (1,667 feet) yesterday on January 24th 2026 with no rope or harness to help him. As he says “It has been my dream to climb a skyscraper”. He completed the climb in only 1 hour 31 minutes and 43 seconds as a 40 year old. No one has ever climbed the skyscraper.

He posted this image when he reached the top of the building. He also climbed the El Capitan’s 3,000-foot ‘Freerider’ route in Yosemite with no rope or safety gear.

“My comfort zone is like a little bubble around me, and I’ve pushed it in different directions and made it bigger and bigger until these objectives that seemed totally crazy eventually fall within the realm of the possible.” – Alex Honnold
