“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.”
― Oscar Wilde

American Shorthairs actually are from Europe and were brought here on boats like the May Flower in the 1600’s. These cats are known for being a great hunter and the oldest domestic cat breed to set foot on North America. They used to be called Domestic Shorthairs until people in America named it American Shorthairs in 1966.
An average American Shorthair’s life span is 15-20 years.
American Shorthairs aren’t that chatty and they’re super smart and independent. They also are very athletic and are great with children. However they do not like being picked up and would rather walk with their four paws.
American Shorthairs color various from white, black, blue, red, cream and silver, and other patterns.
These cats don’t need another companion they are happy to play by themselves but that doesn’t mean you should isolate them fully!
American Shorthairs are very easy to train because they adapt to anything you throw at them.
